After the sold out Norwegian and Icelandic events, Nordic Delight is back in EKKO with a mix of Scandinavian live music and short films. We present one of Denmark’s finest orchestral indie pop acts: Choir Of Young Believers, award winning Swedish pop star Jenny Wilson and critically acclaimed folk singer Torgeir Waldemar from Norway. Besides music you can enjoy short films and there’s a limited amount of combi tickets available including a Nordic dinner.
Choir Of Young Believers (DK) might be best known for the song ‘Hallow Talk’, which is being used as opening track for the successful TV series ‘The Bridge’, but from their first single onwards they have been named one of the best acts in their home country. Musically they combine folk melodies, orchestral instrumentation, and dark lyrics. Their debut album ‘This Is For The White In Your Eyes’ received 7 Danish grammy nominations and their second album ‘Rhine Gold’ was described as "A complete masterpiece". After a short break they returned in 2014 as support act for Depeche Mode’s European tour. Currently they are finishing their third album which is expected to be released this fall. At Nordic Delight we hope to get a first taste of one of the most anticipated albums in Denmark and abroad.
Jenny Wilson (SE) plays big venues and festivals in her home country Sweden, but in the Netherlands she's still relatively unknown, and that something that needs to be changed. This award winning, critically acclaimed and adored singer worked with The Knife, Robyn and many other, but her own work is very strong. In 2010 she won the European Border Breakers Award for her album 'Hardships!' and subsequent tour. 'Demand The Impossible' is the title of her latest album, which was released earlier this year. The album refers to the chaotic situation in the world and in her own life, in which she battled breast cancer. Rarely struggle sounded so subtle, refined and urgent as in the R&B-hiphop inspired synth pop songs of Jenny Wilson.
Torgeir Waldemar (NO) released his debut album out of nowhere at the age of 40 last year. His music is a blend of Americana, folk, country and blues and comes straight from the heart. Because of the strong album and his intense live performances there was praise from the entire music press. Waldemar's influences include Neil Young, Jason Molina and Wovenhand (with whom he recently toured in Germany). Torgeir opens Nordic Delight on May 15th with a solo acoustic set, so we advise to come in time to experience the best kept secret of Norway yourself.
