Nest House Porch Show: Alameda, Bryan John Appleby, K Skelton, Luz Elena Mendoza
It is beautiful and Sunny out, which means it is the perfect time for another Nest House Show!
This year we will be hosting:
ALAMEDA is the Portland-based band featuring Stirling Myles (acoustic guitar, vocals), Jessie Dettwiler (cello, vocals), Phil Nelson (electric guitar, vocals) and Barra Brown (drums, vocals). Compared to the baroque pop of Nick Drake and the slow-core dream pop of early Low, ALAMEDA blends orchestral arrangements with modern instrumentation.
Bryan John Appleby (Seattle, WA)
Bryan John Appleby has been working hard this year writing the follow-up to his acclaimed debut, "Fire on The Vine". Expanding his palette both as a player and a writer, Appleby has started to incorporate elements of classic songwriters, with an intense pursuit for musical and lyrical excellence. Following the release of Fire On The Vine, BJA toured with notable acts Hey Marseilles, Deep Sea Diver and The Head and The Heart. Local festival performances at Bumbershoot, Doe Bay Fest, TimberFest, Seattle Folk Fest, and KEXP's Hood to Hood have further established BJA as a northwest staple
K Skelton (San Francisco, CA)
K.Skelton pays homage to San Francisco's lo-fi, surf rock tradition while making familiar 60's/70's pop melodies his own. His debut album, "High Maintenance Diva Princess" is a personal look into love and loss told by lush chorus and psychedelic undertones.
Luz Elena Mendoza
Influenced by Neil Young, Patti Smith, Richard Brautigan and the pulse of the Velvet Underground, [Luz] frames the sound of folk with big, heavy rhythms and songs that split the sea.
