There is a prerequisite for this course. It is required that you read the “Textbook of Neonatal Resuscitation, 6th Edition” prior to attendance at the class. 2010 Guidelines will be used. The extensively revised and updated 6th edition of the NRP textbook and accompanying DVD-ROM are designed in accord with the program’s curriculum changes and sharpened focus on active, hands-on learning. Self-study is optimized to help students prepare for the mandatory online examination and case-based scenarios at the heart of the new NRP.
The NRP Online Examination assesses knowledge of the causes, prevention, and management of mild to severe neonatal asphyxia. After studying the NRP textbook, learners take the online examination via HealthStream. Upon successful completion of the online examination, learners will print the verification of completion and present it to their NRP instructor for skills training, simulation and debriefing.
Class sizes are limited.
At the conclusion of this continuing medical education activity, participants should be able to:
Compare and contrast primary and secondary apnea and state appropriate interventions for each.
Perform initial steps in resuscitation, make correct decisions and take appropriate actions properly.

Develop skills in performing infant intubation.
Identify the specific indications for and major physiological effects of emergency meds used in neonatal resuscitation.
