CrossFit Tri-Cities has the distinct honor of being one of the oldest, most experienced affiliates in IL; collectively, 30+ years of coaching experience. We pride ourselves not only on our community, but also our individuality. Many changes have been taking place at CFTC in 2015, but one event will remain a steadfast feature: Murph for Miller. Since 2009, Memorial Day Weekend has held a special place in the CFTC Community’s hearts with our annual Murph for Miller charity event. This year will mark the eighth installment of Murph for Miller.

We owe Rob Miller, Murph and every other service person a debt we cannot possibly repay. Many affiliates participate in the Murph Memorial Day WOD, but only one holds Murph for Miller. Please join us on May 22nd and 23rd in respect of tradition, service and patriotism for the Eighth annual CFTC Murph for Miller Memorial Day WOD.
But what does that mean – “Murph for Miller”? In the simplest terms, CFTC celebrates our commitment to each other, our Military and service-people’s daily efforts, and most importantly, we celebrate & honor Rob Miller’s life and his ultimate sacrifice.
CrossFit HQ honors members of the Military who have fallen in the line of duty with a “Hero WOD” in their name. Typically, the rep scheme and movements have a significant meaning to the Hero for which the WOD is named. On Memorial Day Weekend, CrossFit affiliates around the world gather to pay homage to veterans and current service-people by completing the Murph Hero WOD:
With a 20/14# Vest, for time:
1 Mile Run
300 Air Squats
1 Mile Run
In keeping with tradition, CFTC athletes and our guests will honor Robert Miller, Michael Murphy, all veterans and current service men & women by performing the Murph Hero WOD in one of four varieties –
Rx’d – with a 20# vest
Scaled: Full, without a 20# vest
Scaled: Half the rep scheme with or without a vest (800m run, 50 pull, 100 push, 150 squats, 800m run)
Scaled: Quarter the rep scheme with or without a vest (400m run, 25 pull, 50 push, 75 squats, 400m run)
In years past, we have had over 800 participants and raised close to $60,000 in Rob Miller’s name for the Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans. The cost to participate in the Eighth Annual CFTC Murph for Miller is $25. The entry fee is a donation to the The Rob Miller Home: Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans in Wheaton, IL. Registration is now open!! (provide link here)
T-shirts will be available at the event for purchase, which will also be a donation to The Rob Miller Home in Wheaton, IL.
We will also be accepting additional donations for Murph for Miller 8 up through Memorial Day Weekend. CFTC’s goal this year is to raise $20,000 for this very special charity.
