Durham Cinematheque presents Movies in the Park 2015. Shows start at 9:00. Bring your own chair or blanket. Admission is free, donations requested.
June 5 - Durham Again - Back by popular demand. All of these films were shot in Bull City: MOVIES OF LOCAL PEOPLE (H. Lee Waters, 1937); TOBACCO LAND U.S.A. (March of Time, 1940); NEGRO DURHAM MARCHES ON (Don Parrisher, 1948). Although BLIND GARY DAVIS (Harold Becker, 1964) was shot in New York, Davis played the streets in Durham in the 20’s and 30’s, and we welcome his return.
July 3 - Hollywood History and Musical Mixups - This show is one big mixed reel of moments, movements, frame-ups and fractured narratives featuring some Real Movie Monsters and all-singing all-dancing whatnots plus a selection of our special soundtrack mis-takes. No need to worry about what it all means, but you might want to worry about MAYBE THOSE DINOSAURS ARE REAL.
