Are you looking for some unique handicrafts? How about some handmade souvenirs from your time here in Japan? Come to the Mishima handicrafts festival! It's a two day event out in the mountains of Oku-Aizu, with hundreds of artists showcasing their handmade products from all over Japan! Woodworking, pottery, weaving, jewelry, plants, metalwork, paintings, just to name a few! There will also be craft experiences so you can make your own!
This is the biggest event of the year for my little town. We've got a population of less than 2000, but for this one weekend, over 20,000 people come to visit! Why not take this opportunity to see the beautiful mountains, forests, and rivers of Oku Aizu?
If you're coming by train, you can take the Tadami Line from Aizu-Wakamatsu station to Aizu-Miyashita station, and take the shuttle bus from there. If you'd like to stay overnight in town, you're welcome to my apartment, but space is limited, so let me know ASAP! :)
I hope to see you all there!
