A memorial service and musical celebration of Jack Graham’s life will be held on Saturday, June 13 at 3 p.m. in the McElroy Lobby, Gallagher-Bluedorn Performing Arts Center. All are invited to attend.
Jack Graham, emeritus professor of music, passed away on March 14. Jack joined the UNI School of Music in 1967, and served as Professor of Clarinet until his retirement in 2003. During that time, Jack conducted many School of Music ensembles and also appeared as conductor for the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Symphony Orchestra. As clarinetist, Jack was a founding member of the Northwind Quintet, long-time Principal Clarinetist for the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Symphony Orchestra and Principal Clarinetist of the New Hampshire Music Festival Orchestra.
Since retiring in 2003, Jack continued to teach at UNI as adjunct Emeritus Professor (2014-15 marked his 48th year in the School of Music). He will be truly missed.
A memory book is being created in Jack's honor. If you would like to contribute a message, memory or photo to the book, please send those to Caroline.Boehmer@uni.edu by May 22 (hard copy photos should be mailed/delivered by May 18).
Clarinetists and former students of Jack's are encouraged to bring your clarinet and participate in a Clarinet Choir, which will perform a selection at his memorial service. If you will be able to bring your instrument and join in, please send an email to music@UNI.edu and further details will be sent to you.
