The conference will celebrate the work of the Evens Foundation and its peers in the field of media education and highlight successful projects, established networks, and inspiring publications. The conference will be an event where media educators and creators from all over Europe can meet, exchange and learn from each other and make plans for future collaborations.
Most international conferences lead to a few recurring frustrations among the participants: they often feel that they did not have the opportunity to participate actively. Many of the speakers are the same from previous conferences and are often too academic or political. On top of that people regret not having had more time to exchange and learn from peers or similar organizations, during dedicated sessions and / or networking events.
We want to address those sentiments by creating an alternative conference structure. Therefore we will allow time and space where organizations, thinkers, policy makers can make statements and share what they want that others can learn from their work and insights. The conference will be a well-balanced mixture of learning opportunities, networking moments, festivities (e.g. award ceremony EF Prize for Media Education) and policy influencing.
200 pioneering European media educators (teachers, trainers, academics & policy developers), (local) policy makers & representatives from several Media and Information Literacy (MIL-) networks from over 20 countries.
