Looshan Line Jam is sanctioned by the Cultural Development Foundation and coordinated by the Mas Action...the Band. This event was born out of the desire to jump start the St Lucia Carnival season after jazz activities which would have taken stage during the months leading up to carnival.
The event was first held in 1996 and has now grown to about the largest event on the St Lucia carnival calendar. It is held every Whit Monday with participants jumping around the city in a carnival like atmosphere. It has now become the stage where calypsonians namely the power and groovy soca artists launch their material in the carnival season.
The impact of the event is being felt on the carnival circuit as it has been one of the contributing factors to the recent increase in participation at the carnival band level.
2012 was our biggest year yet with a record The potential for the future growth of this event is enormous and the jumpers are looking forward to an even bigger event for St Lucia Carnival 2015 with some innovations planned to take the event to a next level.
