DOORS at 8pm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ LYDIA HOL - 9:30 JASPER SLOAN YIP - 10:30 WOODEN HORSEMEN - 11:30 LOVE YOU MISS YOU - 12:30 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ LOVE YOU MISS YOU After a year and a half hiatus, the boys of Whiskey Chief have returned to deliver to you a brand new funxperience called Love You Miss You. Fronted by a blistering horn section and backed by an ultra steady rhythm unit the music weaves seamlessly through electro-funk territory, guaranteed to rip up the dance floor and propel the party vibes to fever pitch. WOODEN HORSEMEN Wooden Horsemen deliver an infectious charge of electrified grooves, commanding a mix of gritty, blues driven vocals combined with soulful, driving rhythms. Drawing from their bluesy-folk roots while stepping away from their acoustic driven debut album, the band promises to follow up with a new record in 2015 that is wildly raw and heavy. Wooden Horsemen will be teaming up with producers Nick Middleton of 'The Funk Hunters' and Mark Lawrence of 'Big In Japan Recordings' to hone their new sound. Come check out the band's latest material as they showcase their 7 piece band of snipers. JASPER SLOAN YIP Jasper Sloan Yip’s start was humble. A self-taught musician, he gave his first performance in 2007 on a stage he built in the backyard of his childhood home in Vancouver. Three years later, at the helm of an experimental folk-rock sextet, Jasper released his ambitious follow up, Foxtrot. The earnest naïveté that characterized Every Day and All at Once was gone, replaced with pensive introspection and expansive instrumentation. The album was an immediate success. Its first single “Show Your Teeth” climbed to top-ten positions on CBC Radio 2, 3, and several other college station charts across the country. Capping off the year, CBC Radio 2 and 3 both included “Show Your Teeth” on their respective “Best Songs of 2013” lists, while the Province named Foxtrot one of 2013’s top ten indie records. Currently, Jasper and the band are hard at work preparing Jasper’s third full-length album. LYDIA HOL Lydia Hol is a poet, storyteller, and multi-instrumentalist whose voice is instantly engaging; it draws you in like a smoking chimney on a crisp winter’s night. The release of her single ‘Bitter Heart’, a collaboration with baroque-celtic band Thereafter named her a Finalist in CBC’s Search for Canada’s Best New Artist, and a Top 20 Finalist in The Peak Performance Project. Her music has benefited immensely from her studies in jazz vocals and English literature, the latter in Ireland where she immersed herself in traditional folk music. Lydia and her band will be showcasing songs off of her newly recorded full length album, set to released in Fall 2015.
