At the end of the last Scott Cook & Jez Hellard UK Tour we recorded a live album at St. Dunstan's House, Glastonbury featuring Alastair Caplin, Nathan Ball and Nye Parsons. It's very good. We'll be releasing it in London on Tuesday, June 9th, then bringing the whole show west to Glastonbury on Wednesday June 10th for a very special concert in the Assembly Rooms. We will be joined by the enchanting singing and playing of Carrie Tree, and local legend Gaz Austin. It will be a beautiful night and we'd love you to be there. Alastair Caplin is a violinist, singer and composer of rare talent. He has performed with the likes of Abigail Washburn, The Incredible String Band, Dave Swarbrick , Richard Thompson and Alasdair Roberts, and made a name for himself with the power house trio, The John Langan Band. Scott Cook has been described as "one of Canada's most imaginative storytellers". His straight-talking songs and hilarious way with words have taken him around the world, and his deep down caramel voice sets people all a-quiver from the moment he intones "Howdy folks..." Jez Hellard is singer of potent songs, stunning harmonica player and fine guitarist mostly found touring with his band The Djukella Orchestra. He and Scott met at the top of a stairwell on the island of Taiwan in 2001 and take every opportunity to collaborate when geography allows. Nathan Ball is a songwriter, singer, guitarist and luthier. His beautifully written songs reveal depths of humanity and a keen eye for metaphor, accompanied by intricate and expressive finger-style guitar. He also hand-crafts fine guitars, one of which he’s playing on this record. Nye Parsons is a stylish double-bassist with a lyrical style which will have you craning your neck for a better view. His wealth of jazz and classical training bring a unique dexterity to his interpretations of folk and modern forms. Carrie Tree is an incredible singer and crafter of sublime songs. If you've yet to experience her music, you're in for a treat. A leading light of the alternative festival scene, she regularly plays Glastonbury and many major events, and has collaborated with the likes of Damien Rice, Fink, Duke Special, Rumer, Carly Simon, Ben Taylor, Martha Tilston – even the prog rock band Marillion! She will add a whole new dimension to the ensemble... Gaz Austin is one of the west country's best kept secrets. A keen wit, a honey voice and a wealth of songs reside in this majestic, yet understated teller of the truth. "You can always tell a Yorkshireman, but you cannae tell 'im much..." Tickets are £8 in advance, £10 on the door.
