The Hudson Library & Historical Society is proud to present Powerhouse 5 who will perform the music of the Raymond Scott Quintette on Sunday, May 31 at 2 p.m. Scott was an American composer, band leader, pianist, engineer, recording studio maverick, and electronic instrument inventor who is perhaps best known for penning melodies that were adapted for use in over 120 classic Warner Brothers cartoons. The Raymond Scott Quintette existed from 1937 to 1939, and recorded numerous big-selling hits including Powerhouse, which is the iconic assembly line music used in so many Warner Brothers cartoons.
An ensemble of six musicians from Northeast Ohio, Powerhouse 5 boasts the talents of Steve Samuels on clarinet, Tom Lempner on tenor saxophone, Larry Herman on trumpet, Bill Nichols on bass, Darren Allen on drums and percussion, and George Foley on piano and vocals. You won’t want to miss this afternoon of familiar toe-tapping entertainment.
