Liberty Tax will be hosting its 8th Annual Golf Tournament and Pre-Tournament mixer this year to benefit Cerebral Palsy Awareness in honor of Billy Hughes on May 22-23. The Pre-Tournament mixer will be held at The Red Mill Tavern in Pittston, PA on Friday, May 22 from 6-9 pm. The golf tournament will be held at Wilkes-Barre Municipal Golf Course on Saturday, May 23 with a shotgun start at 8am.
Billy Hughes, son of Carol and Bill, of Laflin, PA, was born on September 7, 2012, by emergency cesarean because there was a blood clot in his umbilical cord which was cutting off the flow of blood and oxygen to him and his vital organs. Because of that, Billy has a severe brain injury and only about 20% of his brain left. He suffers from Cerebral Palsy, HIE, Developmental Delay, Microcephaly and Cortical Vision Impairment.
Billy has a feeding tube because of feeding difficulties, and was diagnosed with failure to thrive. He also suffers from infantile spasms throughout the day and seizures. Billy cannot hold his torso or neck very well, and he only has non-purpose coordinated movements. Billy needs his family and nurses help for everything!
