Scandinavia's interest in urban design and the role of urban development in community formation have generated a number of competitions, public debates, and design commissions focused on the sustainable city in recent years. This presentation aims to summarize the key points of Scandinavia's urban development history and provide working insight into the on-going conversations surrounding recent city planning and urban development trends in Scandinavia. The presentation will examine urban design principles, current planning challenges, and sustainability aspects through an inside look at a series of projects authored by the landscape architecture and urban design firm Mandaworks.
