Can a beautiful, sophisticated Parisian courtesan find happiness with a young man from the country? Or is her love affair doomed by a past she cannot keep secret? Celebrated OTSL music director Stephen Lord brings Puccini’s gorgeous music and romantic storytelling to life in this stunning, new belle epoque period production.
Critically acclaimed Corinne Winters returns as the beautiful Magda, after unforgettable performances as Vendulka in 2013's "The Kiss" ("a radiant voice and winsome allure" - The New York Times), Michaela in 2012's Carmen ("singing with beauty and intelligence" - The St. Louis Post-Dispatch & STLtoday.com), and Melisande in 2011's "Pelleas and Melisande" ("her natural radiance and vulnerability were affecting" - Opera News), opposite Anthony Kalil ("an excellent tenor" - The New York Times) in his company debut as her lover, Ruggero. Michael Gieleta, who directed OTSL's "The Kiss," returns to direct.
The cast also includes Sydney Mancasola, soprano, John Mcveigh, Matthew Burns, Hannah Hagerty, Ashley Milanese, Elizabeth Sutphe, Joshua Wheeker, Eric Van Heyningen, Luis Orozco, David Leigh, Charles Sy, and Josh Quinn.
