Join us for the Kiwanis-Thurston Run, celebrating 50 years of Thurston pride. The course winds through the picturesque, northeast neighborhood of Orchard Hills and includes a trail through Sugarbush Park and another around Thurston Nature Center. The trails are a favorite of runners and walkers in the area.
Kiwanis Ann Arbor Morning Edition and the Thurston Elementary PTO are joining forces to raise money to support PTO student programs and to contribute to the Thurston Nature Center's restoration project. TNC is 50 years old and the biodiversity of the aquatic plant and animal life of the pond has gradually declined over the years. A comprehensive plan is in place to restore the ecological health of Thurston Pond, so it can continue to be used as an outdoor classroom by our schools and community.
The event is family-friendly with a 1-Mile Fun Run at 9:20 a.m., as well as a Walking Tour Around the Pond at 10:30 a.m.
