This year, come through the Main Gate, Exit 120 off of I-5. Event passes will be eMailed once the WCWA roster clears the post security. This year there is a heightened alert due to ISIS claims of responsibility for the Texas cartoon shooting a couple weeks ago. The directions to the site are attached.
Demonstrations/Battles have been scheduled for Noon & 3 pm. Those groups that would like to participate will do so at that time however due to location and nature of the event, we're not going to be doing the "Battle of Left Field." It's just too hokey in that small of a space and on an open field. We're going to run this like living histories done at NPS battlefields meaning drill, firing demos and face time. We will certainly run a firing skirmish line forward and rearward in the ballpark. Some review of skirmish drill BEFORE the weekend is well advised.
With no discernable Confederate infantrymen registered, please bring only BLUE infantry gear. We can make a better showing as one big group than a handful of galvanized gray verses a bunch of blue. This is more in keeping with what is done at NPS living histories where they don't have opposing sides.
As for Pelham's, please bring whichever uniform you prefer. My preference is that the group's best uniforms be brought. All gray is okay. All blue is okay. A little of each isn't okay. Work it among yourselves to decide which would be better. Opportunities for artillery firing will certainly occur.
You’re welcome to setup starting Fri, 15 May between 2 pm - 7 pm. An overnight crew will be placed as security over the site during the night. Setup on Sat, 16 May will be from 6:30 am - 9 am. ALL cars must be off-site by 9 am. No exceptions.
Bring your black powder & caps but no loose minie balls as that is considered ammunition. We are on a Military Instillation so our persons & vehicles are subject to search.
Also make sure you have a valid license/registration & proof of insurance if the Military Police request it from you.
Lunch will be provided by the Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers (BOSS) association by way of meal ticket. It's usually a burger or 2 hot dogs/a bag of chips/ & a drink. There will be plenty of food vendors on site.
