Go on the Road with JAHA and explore local history. Learn about Henry Clay Frick’s life and times with a trip to the Frick Art and Historic Center of Pittsburgh and the West Overton Museum of Scottsdale, Frick’s birthplace. In Pittsburgh, you will have the opportunity to tour Frick’s home, Clayton as it appeared in 1900, as well as the Frick Art Museum, known for its collection of 14th - 18th century European art pieces. In West Overton, you will have the opportunity to tour a complex of historic buildings, including the 1830s Overholt Homestead (the home of Frick’s grandparents), the 1859 Whiskey Distillery in which Old Farm Pure Rye Whiskey was produced, and the Springhouse, Frick’s birthplace.
The trip includes a stop for lunch in Monroeville to visit Max and Erma’s, known for their award-winning burgers, locally brewed beer, and fresh-baked Chocolate Chip Cookies.
