Piękna 24/26, 00-549 Warszawa, Poland ABOUT MINDFULNESS Mindfulness is an innate capacity of the mind to be aware of the present moment in a non-judgmental way. It can be developer through systematic training and promotes a way of being that helps us take better care of ourselves and others, and lead healthier lives. It enables us to access inner resources for coping effectively with stress, difficulty and illness. Mindfulness is based on Buddhist meditation techniques, but the training offered is entirely secular. Rob Nairn is one of the world pioneers in presenting Buddhist philosophy and practice in a way that is accessible to the Western mind. Rob Nairn and the Mindfulness Association tutor team has developed a unique training in mindfulness which takes us on a step by step journey into a deepening experience of being present and accepting ourselves as we are. The training includes teachings in Western psychological language that provide a context for understanding what is happening in our minds as we practice and working with obstacles that arise The Mindfulness training which will take place in Warsaw is part of the international program of the Mindfulness Association taught, among others at Aberdeen University in Scotland. The Association offers a training path that begins with the Mindfulness One Year Training, continues with the Compassion One Year Training and concludes with a training in Insight and Wisdom. It is also concerned with the training and ongoing supervision with a bank of professional trainers to deliver these courses. For this reason there are Teaching Skills Modules for those who have completed the Mindfulness One Year Training. The Mindfulness training provides a comprehensive grounding in mindfulness and is suitable both for beginners as well as those who are already practicing mindfulness. Participants will be taught progressive skills in mindfulness through presentations, guided practice and smaller group sessions. A strong emphasis is placed on experiential learning, and for this reason there are home assignments between weekends that include regular mindfulness practise, daily life exercises and journal writing. Each module will take place over a weekend and the four modules will be spread out over approxiamtely eight months. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Lectures will be in Polish and English, making it available for English speakers residing in Poland. Practical work sessions in small groups will be available in either language.
