Our Conway Dragon Boat Festival is a large scale effort that will allow us to meet needs for the youth of Faulkner County annually. We’re not just racing colorful 40-foot dragon boats that day! Spectators are encouraged to come to the park with their lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy the festivities.
The festival is FREE ADMISSION and all ages are welcome to attend! We will have:
• local food vendors
• a kid’s zone with creative arts, crafts, entertainment, music
• drummer costume competition
• 7 generation Corvette Car Display
• Many other immersive experiences for both kids and adults in a family-friendly space.
About the Race:
Individuals and teams from Conway and the surrounding region will converge on Sat., May 30, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. at Beaverfork Lake Park for Conway's First Dragon Boat Festival.
Dragon boat racing is a team sport showcasing teamwork at its finest; an ultimate spectacle and great fun for anyone, young or old! It is a unique, one-of-a kind event designed to promote healthy living, team building and community harmony, and introducing this up-and-coming sporting activity displays the new growth of Conway.
Entering your own dragon boat team in the races is easy! Paddles, life vests, boats, and steerspersons will be provided as well as one training session in advance of the event. Each team just has to provide 20 paddlers; a minimum of eight must be female, and a drummer. On race day each team will race in three heats on a 350m straight course.
Can't find enough people to form a full team? Don't let that stop you from joining in on the fun!
We accept individual paddler registrations for the Conway Dragon Boat Festival. You will either be added to another team that is short paddlers, or all paddlers will be grouped together to form a team!
Check out the website for more information! Hope to see you there!
Entry fees go towards the benefit of the Junior Auxiliary of Conway
