Humans Vs. Zombies is a game of organized nerf tag played on college campuses, in high schools, parks and city streets all across the world, with games as low as 30-40 players and as large as 1,000 players.
The premise is simple.
Zombies try to tag humans to turn them into zombies.
Humans have to defend themselves against the ever-growing horde.
We start off with most everyone humans, and just a handful of zombies. We play the game until there are no humans left. Then we start a new round.
RULES (Cause every game needs ‘em)
Humans can be armed with Nerf guns, Nerf swords, or balled-up socks. Hitting a zombie with any of these stuns the zombie and gives the human a chance to get away.
Humans may carry:
- Any toy blaster that fires foam darts (nerf guns, etc.)
- Foam swords (Nerf brand or otherwise, as long as it is made of foam we're fine)
- Balled-up socks.
- Custom weaponry is allowed, but may be banned from use if it is found to be a safety issue. If your custom sword/axe/whatever is plenty soft and foam-covered, you should be fine.
Custom guns are allowed within reason. Again, if it's safe you should be fine.
All custom or modified blasters and melee weapons may be inspected and removed from play on a case-by-case basis. It's not that we don't like you or your handiwork, we just don't want people getting hurt.
If you ask about airsoft guns the answer is no. They’ve been an issue at other HvsZ events, so I’m just not bothering with having any issues here.
Zombies' collective goal is to turn everyone else into zombies.
Placing a hand on a human turns them into a zombie.
However, if a zombie is shot/stabbed/struck with one of the weapons mentioned above, they must stand still and count to fifteen (in seconds) before moving and rejoining again. No stuns can be made during this time period.
HOW DO WE TELL WHO’S ZOMBIE AND WHO’S NOT?
We will provide wristbands with two with different colors. One basically to show you are a game player. All players including zombies will receive these. The second color can be purchased for $2.00 to be a human player. This band identifies you as a human and when you are bitten (tagged) the zombie will collect your band and you have time to take your weapons to base and emerge as one of the infected.
BUT WHAT HAPPENS IF SOMEBODY CHEATS?
Generally this doesn't happen.
There's always someone that likes to ruin the fun though.
Just find me or one of the other players who look like they know what they're doing, and we'll kick them out or beat them up or call them mean names or something.
I WANNA COME. WHEN/WHERE/WHAT/HOW.
Meet at 2:00 Pm at the Community Park. For those who need a GPS the address is E Halstead Ave, Bardstown, KY 40004.
It costs $$$$ to play.
*** Don't sad face! It's only two bucks each round! You can pay in quarters, you can even pay in dimes. Every dollar you give, is the reason everyone else can play. Also any excess money will be given to charity! So you’re not only having fun, you’re helping a cause! Also due to so many people playing, buying wristbands used each round of game play is needed.
We plan on having at least three rounds. We will hold the first round at 2:00 PM. Depending on how long each round goes, will depend on starting time. If you’re late, that’s okay. Just buy a band a join the game.
We also will have a round after dark! So those of you interested in participating in our dark round, please make any accommodations if you feel the need. I, personally, will paint my dart tips with glow in the dark paint.
Bring nerf weaponry, or bring nothing and just play as a zombie the whole time. We don’t care!
Leave your alcohol, drugs, real guns and bad attitudes at home.
P.S: protective equipment such as eyewear isn't required (though it is recommended), but we're not responsible for personal injury. You're in a public park and people may be swinging foam weapons and shooting darts at you that can possibly cause eye injury (though we do not encourage headshots), and though we have never had a serious injury to date, please weigh the risk of play before attending.
P.S.S If you know of anyone who is available to moderate please let us know! It will be an all-day event so they have to be free but we need moderators who can watch over weapons and catch any cheaters/trouble makers.
