To visit my rider page: To visit my rider donation page: In the wake of 2014, I have embarked on a journey of many lifetimes. My fellow teammates and I, as University of Texas at Austin students, have made a dedication in the fight against cancer. In the summer of 2015, my teammates and I will begin the ending of our journey by making a 70-day, 4500+ mile trip from Austin, Texas to Anchorage, Alaska. There may be questions as to why we would just get on a bike and pedal to Alaska. The only answer I can give is: We are fighting against cancer and for a cancer free future. Texas 4000 for Cancer was founded in 2003 by a University of Texas Student, Chris Condit, who battled Hodgkin’s Lymphoma AND WON. As it turns out, a new group of UT students travel to Alaska every year via bike ride in 70 days with one goal in mind: to spread Hope, Knowledge, and Charity. These are the three pillars on which Texas 4000 for Cancer was founded on. Texas 4000 for Cancer has grown immensely, it has not only become a 501(c)(3) federally registered non-profit organization, but it is also the LONGEST annual charity bike ride in the world. We have a mission to spread knowledge to those who have been personally (directly or indirectly) affected by cancer and to those who have not been. We aim to inspire hope to those who have dealt with cancer by showing them that people like us are riding for them every day. We all aspire to have a future that is free from the disease that is cancer. Each and every day, we dedicate our lives and our rides to honor cancer fighters. In our 70-day trek to Alaska, our team stops in cities, towns, schools, libraries, public forums, hospitals, and anywhere else where we can spread our mission. We aim to interact with the communities, promote awareness, and inspire present and future cancer fighters. Finally, we are committed to and full-fledged supporters of cancer research in hopes of prevailing over cancer. Each rider is required to raise a minimum of $4500, which as it turns out is a dollar for every mile. To this day, Texas 4000 has donated over $4 million to M.D. Anderson, the UT Biomedical Engineering Initiatives, and the LIVESTRONG foundation. Our fight against cancer is everyone’s mission and we aim to provide faith, hope, and love to those who have been involved with cancer, and eventually ride for those who cannot. My fight against cancer is personal. I ride to honor Mrs. Pruiett, who lost an ongoing battle with breast cancer in 2013. Mrs. Pruiett was not only a dear friend, but a role model and an amazing teacher. She has immensely influenced my life and is one of the primary reasons why I am here today. I ride for my best friend, Nichele and her father. I have known Nichele for years now and over the years, she has become one of my closest friends. It was about two years ago that she found out that her father was diagnosed with prostate cancer and that it had metastasized to the bone. As he has battled this disease, she has never left his side and it has inspired me to keep fighting. I was able meet Mr. Newman a few times and I have never met such a man who had so much passion and it was clear that his was Nichele. I continue to ride for them every day and they have changed me for forever. Cancer affects more than the individual; it affects family, friends, colleagues, and the external shared with others. I ride for any and every person that has lost somebody to cancer and for those who have had close friends and family battle against cancer. I ride for a future that will be cancer free. My journey to Alaska has just started, but I am asking you to join in my fight against cancer. There are a few ways that you can help: 1) DONATE My personal goal is $7000.
