Throughout my life, I’ve developed a passion for serving and educating the community. With my many experiences mentoring the youth, providing for the less fortunate, and educating others about health, I learned to appreciate the value of service. Service has inspired me to be kind, selfless and grateful. Even something as simple as giving your time and effort to help another person can mean so much and make a huge difference. And I am always willing to do so much more to serve others in any way that I can.
This summer, I have been given the opportunity to volunteer with Volunteers Around the World (VAW), a non-governmental organization that gives volunteers the opportunity to travel to a third-world country for about 2 weeks to provide medical care and necessities to those in need. During this trip, volunteers will be able to set up medical clinics, intake patients, shadow local doctors and physicians, educate the community about nutrition and hygiene, and so much more. This summer, I have decided to travel with VAW to Luzon in the Philippines!
It seems more than fitting to have my first travel experience outside of the country to be to the Philippines, the country where my family is from. I’ve always had the desire to learn about my culture and experience life there. Knowing that I would be able to provide my service through medical outreach for the people of my family’s home country would be a dream come true.
Unfortunately, my only obstacle to attend this trip would be the money. I would kindly like to reach out to all of you and ask to help contribute to my travel expenses.
Here would be a breakdown of my expenses:
$1700 – VAW Program, which includes:
• Food and Lodging
• In country transportation
• Transportation to and from the airport
• Daily Project Support and Contact
• 24 Hour Support Staff
$1000 – Airfare
I’m not one to ask from others, especially from my family and friends, but I know that I’m not able to support myself financially on my own. Please follow the link below if you'd like to contribute. No amount would be too big or too small!
Thank you for all of your love and support! <3
