The chakras (contained in the etheric body) govern just about every layer of our existence, but through stress and trauma the flow of energy can become blocked. These blocks can manifest in physical discomfort, mental tension and emotional stress. Blocks also distance us from our innate wisdom and stop us from experiencing ourselves and our lives fully.
In this workshop we focus on the heart chakra (anahata). The heart chakra governs the emotions and feelings. It is the gateway between the practical lower chakras and the higher chakras- where our need to survive and our need to live to our highest potential intersect. It is our life purpose that we do what we love, because that's what we're here to do. Often we lose connection with this because of a tendency to live in the lower chakras, or build castles in the sky (with the higher chakras) and fail to construct foundations beneath them. In a state of heart chakra balance we have crystal clear feelings about people, situations and choices and so know by instinct what we need to do.
Physically the heart chakra is related to breathing, the heart itself, the upper back and chest, we can learn a lot about how we're feeling by the way we're breathing and holding ourselves in the upper body.
In this workshop we will be exploring upper back tightness and ways to improve our upper spine posture and flexibility through physical yoga asana practice, we'll also be working with heart opening postures, breathing techniques (pranayama) meditation and group reflection.
