One of Melbourne's finest musos, Harry James Angus, best known as the vocal gymnast/trumpeter from THE CAT EMPIRE, joins local indie-folk darlings Tinpan Orange their last night at Bennetts Lane.
Always delivering a surprising, soulful, honest performance, Harry James Angus will play songs he has written for guitar, possibly wielding some other instruments, and likely going off on a musical and poetic tangent that he hasn't planned in advance. His unique vocal quality and story-telling prowess will take the audience on an intimate journey as Harry nostalgically lays down his final solo notes at Bennetts Lane.
As Tinpan Orange enter their tenth year as one of Australia’s most loved brother-sister duos with the ethereal and mesmerising Emily Lubitz at the helm, they will also take the stage to pay their final homage to Bennetts Lane, where they played their first show (as support to Renee Gayer) nearly ten years ago. With their synthesis of indie-folk and a nod to alt-country and jazz, Emily’s distinctly angelic voice is supported by her brother Jesse’s harmonies and sensitive guitar melodies. When joined by violin virtuoso Alex Burkoy his dramatic and enlivened solo string section ups the musical ante, and together the trio’s 60’s folk aesthetic is lifted by their candid and playful edge.
