When Eliot Coleman was in his 20s, farming became the next adventure after earlier passions for rock climbing, skiing and mountaineering. With 48 years of dedicated and inspiring work honing his craft, Eliot is revered as an early pioneer in the organic farming movement. Like the adventurer and pioneer that he is, Eliot seeks to push the limits of what is possible. Through careful observation and many years of experimentation, he has developed the successful methods and techniques of sustainable four-season farming now practiced on countless small-scale farms in northern climates around the world — ultimately demonstrating that nothing is impossible on the small farm.
Greenacres is honored to have Eliot Coleman and his daughter, Clara Coleman, come and work with members of our garden department to enhance our four-season vegetable production. During their visit, Greenacres will host a speaking engagement with Eliot and Clara as they discuss organic farming and local food production all year-round in any climate. Don’t miss this opportunity to hear how the experts enjoy four seasons of fresh, delicious produce. The speaking engagement will take place in the Greenacres Arts Center Grand Tent. Seating is first come first choice.
Speaking engagement to be followed by a book signing in the Greenacres Arts Center.
