LATE SPRING EVENING WALK....
Another fresh air opportunity, again with a "meet and feet" theme. This is a 6.5 mile walk, and will require guests to arrive punctually and avoid dawdling to return in the daylight.
We will meet at 18:45 at the Weighbridge Pub on Scarfields Hill, Alvechurch, B48 7SQ to begin walking no later than 7pm. Guests may arrive earlier to eat and drink if they wish of course.
The Weighbridge is is a small pub without any real car parking capability situated within a stone's throw of Alvechurch Railway Station where there is plenty. It is situated off the beaten track so allow an extra 5 minutes if coming by car.
We will walk until dusk, which will be for approximately 140 minutes (6.5 miles) along relatively level rural landscapes and canal towpath sections.
Afterwards we have the welcoming traditional pub, especially so for anyone who has come straight from work. If the weather excels, we could enjoy the pub beer garden for a while.
We head south along the Worcester Canal for 2 km to reach the Shortwood Tunnel, where the choice is to follow the waymarks around it, or to swim. We leave the canal system after a total of 4km into Wharf Lane and head north east via Cattespool along offroad footpaths to Withybed Green, and return to the Weighbridge Pub.
