Entertainment, Food, stalls, Karaoke, Raffle, Tombola,Auction... more details to follow.. Sandra Andrew really was one in a million, Many things to many people a wife, mum, nana, great-nana to be, best friend, sister, sister in law, friend, work colleague, aquaintance but there is no denying that once you had met her and spent five minutes in her company you could NEVER forget her. In 2011 Sandra was diagnosed with terminal cancer, for the next three years under the care of the year team at the Queens Centre Castle HIll she would under go surgery, chemotherapy-therapy and trial drugs in an attempt to prolonged her life and she fought each day as it came with a brave face, a smile and a silly comment to make her loved ones smile. On 9th October 2014 Sandra and her family were told she only had weeks to live & would not see Christmas, with a smile on her face and a fight in her heart she told the doctors she would like to go home for her final weeks & that they had got it wrong and she would be sat eating Christmas dinner 2014 with her loved ones. Sandra came home from hospital and began to plan, she planned her own funeral, left lists for her husband and started making plans for her family when she wasn't there, and as she said she would she did see Christmas Day Even if it was in bed with all her family around her, however on 5th January 2015 Sandra lost her battle and heaven gained the most beautiful angel. All of Sandra's treatment and care was carried out at the Queens centre in Hull and before she died she asked that we try and raise some funds in her memory so that they can continue with the amazing work they carry out everyday. With over 2000 people entering the centre a week the staff are fantastic, each patient is cared for as an individual and all staff are friendly, helpful and passionate. There centre also runs on a lot of volunteers who help with many parts of the centre which has a chapel, a rest area, a family area, and a Macmillan centre for support for both patients and families. On 16th May 2015 the lakeside bar along with Sandras family will be holding a fundraising day and night in memory of Sandra with many different events to try and raise funds to give to the Queens centre as a small token of Sandra and her families gratitude. This group is for people to spread the word to get people to the event and make it a fantastic day but also to gain some support and donations for the various events taking place throughout the day which are currently: Tombolas Raffles Auction Cake stand Karaoke Games Entertainment Please share this page with all your friends and family and if anybody knows of any businesses that would like to donate please let us know by writing on the wall or messaging admin.
