From Tuesday 2nd to Saturday 13th June 2015 at Le Méridien Noumea.
And from Thursday 18th to Saturday 20th at Sheraton New Caledonia Deva Resort & Spa.
Back by popular demand, Le Méridien Nouméa is pleased to launch the 2015 edition of the “French Cheese Festival”, with the contribution and participation of Mr Gérard Poulard, “Maître fromagier” – cheese Master.
For over 20 years, Gérard Poulard has travelled throughout the French countryside to discover its varied history and culture.
Gérald POULARD – Cheese Master
This cheese lover considers his work a pleasure; he is passionate about cheese working for countless hours.
He turns cheeses over, dries them, picks them up, lets them breath, and offers them all the best conditions they need.
Gérard Poulard speaks about his cheese collection as a couturier speaks about its creations. “Constituting a collection takes time, this time is necessary to every collection”, he tells.
Behind the cheeseboard, in front of the customer, Gérard Poulard knows that he only has few moments to seduce. His method is the following three steps:
Impress the customer, arouse his desire, speak about flavour and allow time to look at the cheeseboard. Then, he asks each guest about his cheese palate.
Gérard Poulard will offer you a unique opportunity to savour various cheeses such as “Le brin d’amour”, an ewe’s-milk cheese, “L’extase Deauvillais”, a cow’s milk cheese from Normandy, “Le Chèvre Coeur”, “Les têtons de Simone”, a goat’s milk cheese made by a farmer called Simone, and many others…
Gérard Poulard’s knowledge about France and its countryside is so vast that he sometimes also knows the name of the goat or cow from which the precious milk has been drawn.
For this 12th edition of the French Cheese Festival in New Caledonia at Le Méridien Nouméa again, more than 130 different cheeses will be presented to our local and international guests’ fine palates. Selection of wines and great vintages available, our sommelier will assist you in finding the perfect combination.
Enjoy a great Taste of France !
