Guest speaker is Cambridge-Galt author, researcher and columnist David Menary, author of "Terrier Town: Summer of 49" (2003) and "The River and the Railroad" (2010). His most recent publication, "Frederick Douglass in Galt" provides the source for his presentation to WHS. Just three years before the American Civil War, the continent's best-known ex-slave, Frederick Douglass, visited Galt to give a talk during the community’s winter lecture series. It was a memorable evening, though it didn’t turn out as expected. He lectured the next night at the town hall in nearby Ayr. The 2014 WHS annual volume will be distributed at this meeting. Knox’s Galt Presbyterian Church is located at 2 Grand Ave South, Cambridge. The meeting will take place in the Friendship Room, 2nd floor, elevator accessible. The parking entrance is off Salisbury Street. Doors open at 1:00 and everyone is welcome to attend this free meeting.
