FOOD, SEEDS, MAM, SOIL, WATER, BEES AND BUTTERFLIES, AIR, AND Trade/TPP The Food Matters Parade in Sparta on May 23, 2015. We have a Choice. This is Our Call to Action. Let’s support our Northwest NJ farms, farmers, food producers and restaurants who produce and serve heathy foods. Let’s support GMO labeling. Let’s shine the light on the use of poisonous chemicals which are destroying our soil, polluting our water and making us sick. Would you like to join the Northwest NJ Food Matters Parade March in Sparta with millions of other American citizens and people from all over the world who celebrating the March Against Monsanto on May 23rd as part of a global event to raise awareness and to discuss WHY FOOD MATTERS. Our Northwest NJ Community will be meeting at 12 noon on May 23rd at the Sparta Municipal Building located at 65 Main Street in Sparta. Our parade march will start at 1:15pm at the Sparta Municipal Building and we will walk to the Dykstra Park located behind the Sparta Library at 22 Woodport Road in Sparta. We will walk together on Main Street until we get to the Post Office and then we will walk on the sidewalks to Dykstra Park. We will have speakers at the Dykstra Park to discuss the WHY FOOD MATTERS. There are no political speakers, we don't have the proper permits for that...maybe next year!! But you never know the person marching next to you may represent you or may be campaigning to in the future!!!! We encourage everyone to create your own WHY FOOD MATTERS banner or sign and wear a food or environment-oriented fun costume. The parade will gather into the nine contingencies: Food, Seeds, March Against Monsanto, Soil, Bees, Butterflies, Water, Air, and Trade/TPP with their associated colors, puppetry, banners, and posters. Please bring some non-GMO food for the local food pantry. Supporters include the Foodshed Alliance, the Community Support Garden at Genesis Farm, Harmony Starts, the Sussex County Food Co-op, the Sparta Farmers Market, the School Lunch Farm, Edible Jersey, the Delaware Riverkeeper Network, the Food & Water Watch, the Environment New Jersey, Air, Soil, Water (Milford, PA), the Salon Fig, Transitions Newton, the Northwest NJ Timebank, the Friends of the Medicine Wheel, the Skyland’s Group and the New Jersey Sierra Club. State and national sponsors include the Climate Action NJ, Moms Across America, NOFA-NJ, Baker Creek Seeds, GMOfree NJ, ClimateMama, The Mothers Project, and the Mom's Clean Air Force.
