Join us for a weekend of fleece fun with the Prospect Park Alliance. At the zoo, a master sheep shearer will help our sheep lose their winter coats in preparation for summer. Between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., we'll have wool working demonstrations, crafts, music and, of course, sheep! And it's all free with zoo admission.
At Lefferts Historic House next door, between 2 and 4 p.m., you can learn how wool was used on an 18th century Flatbush farm, brush wool with carding paddles, spin yarn using a drop spindle, and even make a felt ball to take home. On Sunday, May 17, you can also enjoy a demonstration by Lefferts' resident spinner, Catherine Conrad.
At Lefferts House, a $3 donation is suggested. Zoo visitors will be able to move back and forth between the two facilities each day with a hand stamp. Come make the most of this wild and wooly weekend!
