The Roadhouse, Manchester's finest venue for underground music, is shutting it's doors after nearly 20 years in action. It's an absolute travesty, it will be sorely missed... Luckily, on Friday 29th May, the last ever Friday at the roadhouse before it closes it's doors, we have lined up an incredible party to give it the true send off it deserves. Were taking it back to basics - the most intimate of parties. A stripped back, heated dance floor, with one red light, a disco ball and a crowd that like to dance. We've bought in the perfect line up for the occasion. Two incredible record diggers and selectors in The Revenge and Ruf Dug and two of our favourite residents - Orfan aka Disco Dan and Disco Stu. FUNK, SOUL & DISCO of the finest order. The perfect way to wave goodbye.
The Revenge (Roar Groove / Z Records / 6th Borough Project (Official)
The Revenge aka Graeme Clark is one of the UK's finest selectors with over 15 years experience in the dance. Graeme is a producer who understands the past but embraces the future. His forward thinking productions and versatility as a DJ have ensured him a place as one of the leading names in dance music over recent years demonstrated by his huge following on Soundcloud and Facebook. He is globally renowned for producing some of the finest Edits and underground House productions. So much so, that after hearing his edit of their No.1 'Lost in Music', SISTER SLEDGE had to work with him. Together they produced the damn groovy 'Stay a While' - released in March 2015. Definitely not a producer to rest on any success, Graeme has gone on to forge several aliases and collaborative projects for his prolific production and creative needs. As 6th Borough Project, alongside veteran Edinburgh DJ Craig Smith, the partnership turned out two stunning full length albums for the respected UK label Delusions Of Grandeur, providing a platform for their in demand DJ performances and a nomination for Scottish Album Of The Year.
Although, slightly better known for his Edits and House Productions, he is still considered one of the finest Funk, Soul & Disco selectors out there. His sound is perfectly constructed, soulful, groovy and damn sexy. The perfect man to head the occasion, a man who we've admired since we started out, a man who will make you dance all night long.
Ruf Dug (RUF KUTZ)
One of our favourite previous guests and one of Manchester's finest crate diggers - Ruf Dug, the owner and founder of the cosmic acid house label Ruf Kutz will be joining once more to bring the dace floor to life like nobody else!! Having originally founded Manchester's famous road block Wet Play parties, his labels first release RK#1 sold out very quickly, going for huge money on discogs now and RK#2 caused massive disco destruction, earning Ruffy a solid following from DJ's as diverse as Erol Alkan, Ramadanman, Moodymann, Lovefingers and many others. It's fair to say the man they call Ruf Dug knows how to party, having started out tearing up the dance in Sydney's underground warehouse party scene, getting involved in all-night squat jams, soundtracking lesbian sex parties and facilitating three-day mushroom-fuelled psychedelic disco situations. Normally the blurbs we provide help give an idea of what to expect but it's fair to say with Ruf Dug you'll never know what to expect and thats why we've bought him down to spin for Fever once more! Check out his Boiler Room set in a stripped back bedroom in Peckham to try and get a better idea....
