On May 21st 2015 there will be the opening of Franco Franceschi’s photo exhibition “The Seasons in Chianti” in Amsterdam, in the exhibition area of the Institute for Italian Culture. The topic, the changing of forms and colours of the Chianti countryside, will be of great interest both to the Italians living in the capital and to the people of the Netherlands. This exhibition, after the debut in Lilliano, the region where the pictures had been thought and realised, has been brought with success in the last years to Grenoble and Lille in France, to Ljubljana and Izola in Slovenia, to Bangor and Edimburgh in the UK. The viewing of part of the pictures is possible on the website http://www. francofranceschi.it in the section “fine art pictures”. The research includes about a hundred photographs of details of the Sienese countryside immortalized by the author during his eight-year stay in Castellina in Chianti. These pictures are out of the common, of clear pictorial inspiration, but enriched with a clean, sometimes even violent, cut. The Chianti region appears more lived than simply visited. The exhibition in Amsterdam will display 40 pictures chosen among those of the collection, in the format 40x60 cm. A rich catalogue of 64 pages published by Listen Books with an introduction by Monica Boghi will accompany the exhibition.
