Meet at Genesee Waterways Center
6+ mile & 20+ mile option
Let’s go for a ride!
Enjoy the scenery of Rochester’s Skyline reflected in the Genesee River, as we cruise north along the Riverway Trail from Genesee Valley Park to Downtown Rochester. We’ll cross the river downtown to follow the trail south on the opposite side. Once back in the park, if you’ve had enough riding for the day, your destination is just a pedestrian bridge away!
Those of us who prefer a longer ride will continue southeast to historic Schoen Place, Pittsford along the Erie Canal Towpath. (Maybe we’ll stop for ice cream before turning back?) We’ll finish the ride back at our starting point, to round out a 20+ mile ride.
This ride is appropriate for all styles of bicycle. All trails on this trek are paved and closed to traffic. Our pace will be moderate, about 10-15 miles per hour. There is very little slope, except for small hills by the locks in Brighton and Pittsford. There is one road crossing at Lock 33 in Brighton.
All riders are required to wear a helmet.
WHERE AND WHEN:
Meet at 6:00pm by the Genesee Waterways Center. We will start riding at 6:15 and be back around 8:30 (Around sunset). After the ride, we’ll grab a bite to eat and some refreshments at a nearby restaurant or pub.
If the air is warm, the chance a light sprinkle will not deter us. In case of inclement weather — such as high winds, or incessant or heavy rain — this ride will be postponed to Tuesday, May 12 (pending good weather that day).
• Bicycle (any style)
• Helmet (mandatory)
• Water Bottle or Camelback
• Spare tube (I carry a pump)
• A small snack
• Your Friends!
RSVP is greatly appreciated, but not required. You don’t need to be an ADK member, so bring your friends.
