Two days of off-road one wheeling in the hills of the Empire State
Beebe Hill State Forest (in the Columbia County town of Austerlitz): http://www.dec.ny.gov/lands/66460.html
For two days this June, the single track trails of Beebe Hill Forest in Austerlitz, NY will be filled with unicycle riders.
Off-road one-wheel enthusiasts will be gathering for the second annual Empire State Mountain Unicycle Festival, to ride the spectacular and scenic trails of New York State.
Over the past two decades, mountain unicycling has grown from an almost unheard-of phenomenon to a steadily growing recreational and sporting activity. As the hills and trails of New York State experience a growth in mountain biking, this very unique one wheeled riding community is rising from the shadows. More than thirty unicycle riders took part in the inaugural event last year. More are anticipated this year.
The trails at Beebe Hill Forest feature both advanced and beginner trails for festival participants. The trails are built and maintained by the Columbia County Mountain Bike Alliance. Camping is available at nearby campsites.
The festival is produced by a group of dedicated Columbia County unicycle riders—the Chatham Unicycle Club & the Hell on Wheel Gang.
