Denver Victorian & Steampunk Society presents our sixth annual Day at the Denver Botanic Gardens. This garden party features a pot-luck afternoon tea, strolling languidly through a profusion of springtime blossoms, and games such as cards, croquet, draughts, and mahjong.
Admission is $15 per person; children are $9. Members of the Botanic Gardens are "paid in advance".
Provided that it's not otherwise engaged, we will be meeting at the Woodland Mosaic garden, which is now sporting a gorgeous Victorian Solarium where the wooden pergola used to stand. Woodland Mosaic is on the south edge of the Gardens. Our second choice is the Herb Garden, just to the east of Woodland Mosaic. (We don't rent the spaces; they're first-come, first occupied.)
There will be many opportunities for photos of gardens and Neo-Victorian couture. Please dress for the occasion*, and bring any props or dress accessories that you might want to include in the photos - books, parasols, etc. Parlor or board games are welcome. Be prepared for lots of walking and curious garden visitors.
See 'Tea Foods for the Tea novice' in the Files section of this group if you need tea foods ideas. There is no need to supply dishes, cups, plates, or serving utensils; all will be provided. Tea and cold beverages will be also provided. Please make note of what you will be bringing so we can avoid duplications. Remember that we have members with dietary restrictions, so variety is a good thing. Denver Botanic Gardens is a dry, non-smoking site.
* As always, Neo-Victorian attire is admired, but not required.
