'Kiitos, thank you. Aivan huikaiseva kokemus oppia uusia tapoja soittaa erilaisia rumpuja, (Ukkorumpua, Kehärumpua..). Rytmit jäivät mieleen ja kehoon soimaan ja antavat intoa soitella lisää uusilla rytmeillä :)' Learn how to play basic and complex uneven rhythms from a very simple point of view, with no previous knowledge required. I call it Breaking Your Rhythm Patterns. Very quickly you'll get to play things that not many drummers play. This workshop aims at breaking repetitive patterns of the mind through awareness of music beats and rhythms when drumming. This helps to establish a sound connection between the right and left brain. The use of uneven beats opens new ways for exploration as it breaks with the way most western music is played. Participant should bring their own drum (djembe, darbuka...). Contents: - Concept of beat. - Basic rhythms in 3 and 4 beats. - From 4 to 5: just add 1. - Complex rhythms in 5, 7, 11 beats. - Playing with tresillos. - Flamenco rhythms. Written material will be provided. The workshop will be host by spanish musician Made Mata (bio below). When: 27 May at 17:30h. Where: Alppipuisto, Helsinki (it might change, if so we'll post the new location). Duration: 2 hours workshop + extra time just drumming. What to bring: drum, blanket for the grass (if you feel like), water, maybe a portable chair to be more comfortable... Price: 20€. In case you can't afford it please send me a private message.
