FIRST FRIDAY DRUM CIRCLE :) NEW LOCATION- Tempe Lake Boat Beach EVERY First Friday :) FREE :) 8 - 11:30 pm DANCE, SPIN, MINGLE -- ALL ARE WELCOME :) Drumming on First Friday MONTHLY NOT at The IceHouse anymore... NOW Tempe Town Lake Boat Beach- North side of the lake, under the S-boudn Mill Ave bridge... Access via E Lake View Dr., E of Mill Ave x Curry Rd. It goes S off Curry, DIRECTIONS: Go E on Curry from Mill Ave (The Marquee) take first R on E. Lake View Dr. Park at bottom of hill. Walk West along waterfront - we'll be under the S-bound Mill Ave bridge. PARKING: Under bridge at curve in road at bottom of hill. JOIN drummers, dancers, percussionists; Open air -Outdoors. Beach-front at Tempe Lake. BRING - Bring a CHAIR, DRINKING WATER, a SMALL CARPET (2' x 3') to set the drums on -- BRING ALL PERCUSSION: hand drums, xylophones, percussion, bells, WIND INSTRUMENTS: flutes, didgeridoos, whistles, horns, harps (harmonicas), Dancing feet, smiles, laughter, & good supportive attitudes! AMENITIES has a port-a-pottie -- no other supplies available - just what we bring! WANT it? BRING it! :) RAIN - If a very light rain, we can drum -- under Mill Ave Bridge... SMOKING - please walk to the NORTH side of the wall between the road & the circle, away from activity. Some of us are chemically sensitive. Please: No drugs, No alcohol. Family-friendly event! Q & A ~ Q: Never been to a drum circle. Do I need to bring my own drum? If so, what kind of drum and where would I get it? I'm not sure if I have good rhythm, do you teach? Also, if I just want to watch or dance, is that OK? Thx! A: We have extra drums to play from around 9:00 pm. Any kind of hand drum is good. (ie djembe, congas, dunbacks, dun-dun, djun-djun, etc...) All percussion & wind instruments are welcome! Anything that does not require electricity… Anyone can play w/ this circle-- & anyone can just watch or dance, too! We are encouraging -- there are no mistakes! We believe by joining in, over time, you will improve your rhythm. Some facilitation is led by Frank.
