Let Anne Sofie von Otter take you to the French salons.
Hear the world-known Swedish mezzo-soprano performs popular chansons and classic French songs from the 20th century. Accompanied by Bengt Forsberg on piano, Lawrence Power on viola and a small band with accordion, guitar and bass, she transforms Logen into a French salon for the evening.
Von Otter has also previously moved beyond the boundaries of classical music with great success, as witnessed by her collaboration with Elvis Costello, for instance. This evening she performs timeless treasures from French musical history.
"I could keep singing and listening to these songs all my life. They hold so much warmth, fun and melancholy," says Anne Sofie von Otter.
The programme is taken from von Otter's double album Douce France. "Von Otter's voice has a greater mellowness, and just the right hint of huskiness, to conjure the salon atmosphere – think of Proust – of so many of these intimate songs," The Guardian's critic wrote in a review of the album.
