JUNE 1ST - 5:30 p.m. 8:30 p.m. @ Suddha Studio -
94 S Main St, Meredith, NH 03253
This workshop will work on transitions, and recovery techniques and moves.
Recovery - We will work on potential ways to make mistakes look like they were done on purpose, or how to recover by using the mistake as part of your performance. This will include different ways of picking the hoop off the ground after a close drop, using your body to keep the hoop up, using momentum to keep the hoop in plane, and transitioning from a trick that just didn't go as planned (sometimes, these are the best outcomes ever, because you stumble onto a new trick that you may have never thought of before, so don’t be afraid to fail and let it ride..). All of this will help round off the edges of your performance, giving it more fluidity and style.
Transitions - We will discuss how to recognize where tricks can start and end. Many tricks do not necessarily have any given starting or ending position, which means there may be multiple points where you could end a particular trick and start a new one. There will be a couple activities we will do to play with starting and stopping tricks in different positions within the move to explore the various opportunities for other moves.
JUNE 2ND - 5:00 p.m. 7:30 p.m. @ Ossipee Recreation Department - Rear 55 Main St. Ossipee, NH 03814
This workshop will focus on the idea of letting go of the hoop, while still having intention and control of the hoop as it is free to also do it's own thing. We will discuss the concept of "flow" together and ways to feel more natural with the idea of it and how to "create" your own flow.
We will explore several genres of tricks: Walk-The-Dog, Tosses, and Contact Body Rolls will be the primary focus. We will work through fundamentals of these moves for beginners, and into advanced concepts and tricks and applying them to transitions and combos. If time allows, we will work a bit on Wedgies, Escalators, Helicopters, Coin Spins/Folding, (or anything else people are interested in learning that involves "disconnected flow") with many variations and ways to transition from them.
