Dancing in Vienna
“On the 28th of September 1942, my father was murdered at the concentration camp of Mauthausen, in Austria. His executioner was a 22 year old German Camp Commander, who in 1946 was hanged by a US war tribunal.”
With Dancing in Vienna, Anna shares the story of her parents. After her mother’s death in 1984, Anna finally found the courage to search for her father’s roots, his life and his death. For close to a decade she worked through many documents, and spent time in a number of archives in Europe. She not only was able to trace her father’s life story, but also gained insight into the times that he and her mother lived through. By telling her story, Anna is trying to lift at least a very small measure of the ‘conspiracy of silence’ that surrounds the events of the Holocaust and the Second World War, to this day.

As you may know, we’ve been trying to raise funds for my 76 year old mother (www.gofundme.com/omisfund) .. Mom is facing demands of payment in full from the bank, for a $46,000 loan she co-signed a few years ago, in good faith, for a friend. Sadly, the loan has fallen into arrears. As part of our fundraising effort, the community is helping her to stage Dancing in Vienna.
