Local favorites Cool Tara and Dustin Saucier & the Sad Bastards will finally grace our stage over at OLS Presents: Live and Local, and we couldn't be more elated for this.
Cool Tara is a four piece garage pop/ rock band out of Saco, ME. Chris plays drums and sings, Gabe plays guitar, Kara plays bass guitar, and Matt plays guitar. The group has been steadily writing songs since April 2014 and have released two EPs in that time (EP ONE and Bad Moves). Their writing and recording process has lent itself to the EP format in that it allows them to continue writing new songs and develop the sound of the group without getting lost in any recording process. Because they each draw from quite different influences, the writing process has been a dynamic experience that allows them to play with our sound, which is still in it's infancy. Their live energy is unabashedly youthful in the pursuit of finding itself in it's best expression.
Dustin Saucier and The Sad Bastards are a band based of Portland, Maine consisting of Geoff Williams, Alex Hernandez and Dustin Saucier. Saucier and Wiliams have been bonded by music since their high school days of playing shows together in other bands. A transplant from Maryland, Alex has been in Maine long enough to survive college, more than a handful of harsh winters, and being in other bands (most notably The Milkman's Union ).
Since their inception, they have released an album, two EP's, a live recording and a collection of B-sides. Their sound is very reminiscent of late 90's- early 00's indie rock/ emo, but are well versed in all styles of music. They are currently working on another EP (to finish a concept EP series titled rock, paper, scissors) and have material for another full band release as well.
