Part conference, part festival, part living room chat
Converse Converge is a 24 hour live stream hosted by Pangaea Poetry featuring performances, interviews, archive footage and live discussions from spoken word artists and organisations all around the world; from the UK to Nepal, Australia to Kenya. This unique event hopes to:
- Unite the diverse range of voices in spoken word from around the world
- Build stronger networks between artists and organisations world-wide so we can better showcase, share and support each other
- Provide a snapshot of what the world of spoken word looks like in 2015, and how we might move forwards
We won’t be able to do it justice. But this is an attempt to try and unify the wonderfully eclectic and diverse voices representing spoken word around the world, understand where it might be going, and how we can help each other.
The stream will be public and viewable from the Pangaea Poetry YouTube Channel: www.youtube.com/user/PangaeaPoetrySlam
More information on the event, including how to get involved as a participant and help maximise the event's global reach can be found at: www.pangaeapoetry.com/converseconverge
While running the stream, viewers will be encouraged to upload information of any spoken word events they know of in their part of the world to a public Google Map. This map will be published under Creative Commons, and hopefully serve as a valuable resource for poets trying to learn about events in different parts of the world, as well as existing listings/mapping websites.
