Embracing Anatomy with Touch and Tone
Sinking into the warmth of the earth after the Memorial Day weekend, we will explore the softness of our dance through anatomy, tone, and touch. We will uncover the myths and stories of our animal body, acting from the truths inherent in our anatomy to discover softness, flexibility, and responsiveness in our dance.
Recent research shows how we are anatomically pre-disposed for compassion and to care for each other; even the smallest bones in inside the inner ear are tuned to hear pitches that soothe. And like water flowing past any obstacle, softness is the quality of strength we are seeking. In addition to contact improvisation, we will use the modalities of Alexander Technique, Aikido, and Authentic Movement to explore softness, flow, and release.
Note: Workshop is aimed toward intermediate/advanced movers, with facility and grounding in the fundamentals of contact improvisation.
