Celebrate the Bicentennial of the Festivities that Put Waltz on the Map of Europe!
Bay Area English Regency Society (www.baers.org)
Dance Master Alan Winston with
The Divertimento Dance Orchestra
Saturday, May 30, 2015, 8:00 - 11:30 pm
Alameda Elks Club, 2255 Santa Clara Ave., Alameda, CA
$20 at the door, $14 before April 30, $16 before May 27. BACDS & GBACG $14 mail-in before May 27.
Easy set dances, taught from scratch and called at the ball, and that scandalous new dance which threatens the very foundations of civilization -- the waltz. No experience or partner required.
Period attire admired but not required. Are you a publisher lobbying for an end to censorship? A Jewish delegate attempting to retain rights granted under Napoleon? A merchant wanting to curb piracy? A monarch or pretender to a throne? Come as an Enlightment Humanist in simple and elegant Regency attire, or as a Monarchist in a Regency gown dripping with jewels from head to toe, or, for gentlemen, full 18th century regalia.
Masks, tiaras, crowns, diplomatic sashes, and Envoys of tiny imaginary countries especially encouraged.
See www.baers.org for online tickets. For advance ticket purchases by mail please make checks to “BAERS” and send them to:
BAERS c/o GBACG, PO Box 6392, Alameda, CA 94501. Advance mail registrations must be received no later than May 27, 2015.
Please bring your favorite savory or sweet potluck contribution to share. Punch and water provided.
In consideration of persons with chemical sensitivities, please do not wear personal fragrance products to this event
