ABOUT COLOR DASH:
You will want to start the race with a shirt as clean and white as the first Minnesota snow but we will make sure that you soak up such a great deal of color that you may just end up being colored for life. Don’t be surprised if you even end up looking like a leprechaun tripped into that huge rainbow of color that he’s always searching for. It may be enough to get your feet moving and dance it off at the end of the DASH -- whatever you do, let the colors move you!
We will warn you that even though you will start out as clean as a bar of soap, it will not last for long. As the DASH continues you will find yourself being covered in a spectrum of colors: blue, green, pink, orange and yellow. At each Kilometer during the DASH a new color explosion will add to the clean slate that you once were, until you come to the finish line and arrive into a final explosion of colors...so much in fact, that you will wonder if Iris sent Zeus himself to deliver the message.
So let’s get this party started and turn your life colorful in The COLOR DASH – this is one event you don’t want to miss.
Benefitting the Bowling Green/Warren County Humane Society:
The BGWC Humane Society has been serving Warren County for approximately 50 years. We have grown to be one of the largest Animal Shelters in the state of KY with approximately 10,000 animal intakes annually. We work tirelessly to save as many animals as possible, and this would not be possible without our wonderful adopters / volunteers / donors / rescues / and supporters.
In 2002, we opened our own spay/neuter clinic, and since then, we have altered approximately 80,000 animals! This has prevented thousands of unwanted animals from entering our community. There is no worse feeling than having to euthanize an animal only because there are not enough homes, so we will continue our spay/neuter efforts until this doesn't have to happen.
In 2004, we opened our Hildreth Adoption Center. This building has been a blessing to thousands of animals. As we have adoptions in the center, we go to the Humane Society and bring back an animal that may not have had a chance at adoption. Once the animal makes it into the Adoption Center, it is safe until it finds it’s forever home. This center has pulled approximately 22,000 animals out of the overcrowded Humane Society and successfully adopted them out. We get NO funding for the operations of this building - it is run ONLY on donations from our community.
This is why events like this are so important to us. We hope you and many of your friends sign up for this great event and help us save lives at the same time
