We are pleasure to announce that we are going to have our 2nd annual Chinese culture night on Friday, May 15, 2015 at the Auditorium in SYRACUSE HIGH. The performance will includes the students from Farmington Junior High, North Davis Junior High, Syracuse Junior High, Layton High, Northridge High, and Syracuse High. Our theme this year is "When Asian meet American!!"
What are the differences between Chinese and American? What are the similarities? Could these two cultures be melted together? If so, what would it be? Based on these thoughts, we will have 10-12 cultural booths held in the hall from 5:00-6:30pm to show Chinese culture which includes Chinese food, games such as Majong, Chinese chess (Xiangqi), shuttlecock (tijianzi), Chinese Yo-yo (kongzhu), beanbags (shabao), arts such as mask making, Chinese decoration knot making, brush painting/calligraphy, etc. and T-shirts for fundraise.
Our performance will start at 6:30pm and ends at 8:30pm to present how these two cultures could be melted together. Our students will not only present how they've learned in our Chinese programs which include language such as tongue twister, storytelling, jokes, etc., singing, dancing, and taiji, and even skits but also their "American-style" talents. You will love it, so will your child.
We fully understand this culture night event it is held after school time and voluntary; however, we are truly grateful if you may please help us encourage your child to participate this annual event performance among north Davis schools; it will motivate and maintain students' interest in learning Chinese language along with its culture. It is also another great opportunity to meet new friends who are learning Chinese in other schools. This performance event is also a project in our Chinese program for extra points.
Please leave the night of May 15 for us. We will love your attendance and your child¿s participation. Thank you so very much for your wonderful support.
