Cheryl will be talking about phrasing and musicality, working on how to take your musical expression to a whole new level. Just playing the notes, is not playing music, just as 'just saying the words' doesn't necessarily mean you are saying anything. Playing music is like reciting a poem, 'don't just mouth the words' - 'say something!' Please bring your guitars and a pencil and rubber.
"Cheryl Grice won a scholarship to the Royal Manchester College of Music at 16yrs, and won 2 International competitions at the age of 19. She studied regularly with John Williams at his house in London, and performed with huge success in a BBC recording of a master class with Julian Bream. Julian was so impressed with her playing that he asked her to join him in Paris later that year where they televised a lesson for French Television. She had appeared on TV and Radio many times, and performed in both the Queen Elizabeth Hall and the Wigmore Hall in London. She emigrated to NZ in 97’ with a large family, and returned to International touring this year with a tour of Canada and the UK."
