The mermaid parade is a free open participation community art event, parade
Participants (that's YOU) , will meet in costume at the Alki Boat house at 11am on Saturday May 30 for a water themed dance installation by Sirens of Serpentine performed to live harp music. The entire group will then parade the Alki Beach Trail to the site of the old Luna Park. Everyone is welcome.
Mermaids aren't afraid of a little water. We parade rain or shine
11:00 am Meet at the Alki Bathhouse in your mermaid costume to bask and enjoy the bellydance performance by Sirens of Serpentine accompanied on live Harp by Monica Schley
11:30 am Line up at the Bathhouse behind the "Mermaid Parade" Banner.
12 pm We parade! We will walk along the Alki Beach Trail to the GIANT Anchor at the former site of Luna Park. Guests and those not in costume can watch from any point along the route
End time is approximately 1pm
This is a family friendly event.
No commerce, only fun. Be the art.
The mermaid parade is the proud recipient of an art grant from Ignition Northwest (501c) for NEW interactive, community-driven, collaborative works that are accessible to the public and participatory in scope. Fueling community through participatory arts, events and education, and a matching funds grant from the City of Seattle Department of Neighborhoods.
